The aim of the project is to map the developmental specifics of the formation of spatial sociology in Slovakia for the period from the late 50s, when the Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the SAS established a multidisciplinary workplace focusing on social factors in construction (later sociology of urbanism). Since the year 1993, when the Department of Spatial Sociology was transferred to the Institute of Sociology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Emphasis will be placed on the presentation of its broad-spectrum activities and benefits for theory and methodology, as well as for applied research and practice. We want to present the core concepts and methodological approaches that have been developed in relation to the socio-spatial specifics of Slovakia. Our aim is to present the findings from extensive empirical research and professional expertise (often pilot projects), the results of which are little known and unprocessed in the history of Slovak sociology. We want to present the acquired knowledge in the form of publication, and thus contribute to the expansion of knowledge about the specifics of the development of sociology in Slovakia.
