Abstract: The aim of the project is to analyse political discourse in Slovakia using the theory of symbolic power (P. Bourdieu) and the theory of social dominance (Sidanius - Pratto). The process of "othering" by means of external construction of the identity of individual actors, i.e., by categorization, is considered one of the key aspects of the formation and reproduction of the hierarchical relations in the domestic and foreign policy of Slovakia. Our aim is to identify the role of the "othering" in the political interaction. Project is focused on the formation of the relations of symbolic power and on the tools applied in its framework. We will analyze the influence of categorization of particular groups on their role in the public life. Research team will be focused on the question, to what extent is the creation of "Other" relevant in political interactions and to what extent does it affect the relations of symbolic power? Our research will be conducted on the levels of domestic and foreign policy of Slovakia.
