Annotation: The project focuses on the analysis of social and spatial marginality in Slovakia, which we consider to be the core problem in case of marginal territories. The aim is to analyze social marginality at two spatial levels (regional and settlement level) with the goal on one side to define the socially marginal regions within the SR and characterise the sources of social marginality. In the selected model regions we would like to analyze social marginality in more details at the intra-regional level. Emphasis will be put on the analysis of territorial communities living in these territories. To identify the sources, factors, manifestations and impacts of marginality to the human potentials and their spatially conditioned living conditions, on the development changes in the development availabilities of settlements and the strategies of marginality solution applied by them. To provide findings for application utilisation mainly for institutions interested in settlement and regional development and for the decision sphere.
