Annotation
Social stability and the functioning of democratic regimes depends on the basic value consensus in society and its compatibility with the values of the legal frameworks of European states and EU member countries. However, pluralism of life styles, religious and cultural values and traditions is characteristic of the present day democratic societies in Europe and the world. Fundamental social, economic, political and cultural changes that have taken place on the continent since 1990 have led not only to changes of laws, but also to changes in the value profiles of the population and setting public policies that ensure social solidarity. The aim of the project is to identify the dynamics of changes in the underlying value orientations of the Slovak population in the context of an independent state and the country's integration into European structures and their international comparison based on the use of data obtained by membership of the research team in the European values study (EVS).
