Annotation: Every society, especially since the establishment of the modern concept of nation, has used its history for political purposes, political consolidation and legitimation of an existing social order, or has used the changes in the interpretation of history for enforcing social transformations. The project aims to point out how the selected historical themes have been used by politicians for their specific political goals since 1945, particularly in the post-1989 period and how these have reverberated in the general public. Every political system, regardless of its nature, deliberately selects and promotes certain historical events in order to vindicate its own ideological and political orientation. If such events are associated with the process of building democratic citizenship, they are usually viewed favourably within the society.
