Project Summary:
The aim of the project is to contemplate on and assess the development of sociology in Slovakia since the fall of the communist regime in 1989 to the present. The project builds on a previous grant task which was to map the period of the so-called normalisation and its impact on Slovak sociology in the political and ideological context of the totalitarian regime in the years 1970-89. The starting point of the research will be the socio-political context of the fall of the totalitarian regime and its consequences in the field of science, particularly sociology. The research focuses on key historical periods which defined the development of society in Slovakia and affected directly or indirectly the life of the sociological community, the profiling of personalities in sociological science and the focus of their activities.
