Abstrakt
The Darjeeling is a dristict in West Bengal,located in the northeastern part of India. The region's history is intrinsically tied to colonial influence, migration, and cultural amalgamation. Darjeeling is renowned for its scenic beauty, tea gardens, and a rich cultural heritage. It is a region that is home to multiple ethnic and cultural groups, which has both enriched the area and led to various challenges. Multiethnicity and multiculturalism is the main attraction to the sociologist. Darjeeling ia a home to diverse ethnic group and communities living peacefully. Darjeeling is the true example of Unity in Diversity. The diverse nature has made Darjeeling an interesting area of study. Darjeeling is know as the “Chicken Neck” of India because of the stratigical location and this has fostered to the growing diverse ethnic population. The diversity has led to the strenthening of the “we feeling” among the community of people living there but at times has also been a challenge, challenges related to identity, language, economic disparities, and political instability. This paper explores the region's ethnic composition, historical perspectives, associated issues, and strategies for preservation and growth, with additional insights into the Nepali identity and political history of the hills.
